Make time for your own Sales Leadership development!

Make time for your own Sales Leadership development!

Unless you make time for your own development, your Sales Leadership skills will at best plateau…at worst decline!

If every member of your team is a high performer then carry on doing exactly what you’re doing because you have a winning recipe. If they are not…then you need to do something different to get a different result…and that starts with you.

Why Sales Leadership Development?

You don’t know what you don’t know…so if you don’t invest in your development you could be making the same mistakes over and over and not even realise it.

It’s important to remember that you’re leading Sales People. The happier they are the more sales they will generate. This means you must develop the skills that contribute to their happiness. Sales Leadership is no longer only about the numbers!

How do you develop yourself?

This really depends on your preference. Do you learn best in a workshop? Do you like eLearning? Do you like to learn from books? Or maybe you love videos on You Tube or TED?

The great thing is there are so many options…and the tough thing is there are so many options 🙂

Start with something that you already know works for you. I love audio books…and workshops where I can share experiences with others. These are always my first choice. That doesn’t mean I won’t choose other options for learning if the topic is something I’m interested in. Decide your preferred choice and take action. Learning in your favourite format makes it so much easier to develop yourself.

When do you fit it in?

Whenever you can! Yes, being a Sales Leader is full on…I know that. But if you don’t make a little time each day to create the habit…you’re unlikely to do this regularly going forward. You can easily read or listen to a book whilst travelling. You could think of attending a workshop as networking…you never know where you might connect with a new customer!

As little as 15 minutes a day will give you a bigger return on your time investment than half a day a month. Our minds love a drip feed of information.

Lastly…

Remember that knowing something is only knowledge. It doesn’t become development till you implement it into your working day with your team.

Ensure your knowledge becomes your practice. Not only will your team thank you…you’ll also feel more positive, fulfilled and a better Sales Leader!

Until next time,

Leigh 🙂

About the author

Hi I’m Leigh Ashton of The Sales Consultancy

Whether you’re a small business or a leading brand, an area manager or a Chief Executive, whether you’re new to sales or an experienced sales professional. Even if you’re not in sales at all but want to understand it, you’ve come to the right place.

The World of Sales is changing.

Today’s conventional sales training doesn’t address the psychological barriers that get in their way.

My approach takes your sales team through a process that:

* Helps them identify their psychological barriers and gives them the tools to overcome them
* Teaches them how the mind works so they can keep motivated and stay focused
* Gives them the ability to identify the psychological patterns of their clients and prospects so they connect with them at a deeper level and close more sales

And at a higher level…

* It creates more success in other areas of their lives so they are happier generally…and happier sales people generate more sales
