Help! I’m Feeling Overwhelmed!

With the hundreds of people I work with, I seem to aways get asked the same question, “How do you get it all done?”. As business owners, we have a tendency to take on many projects at once often leaving us stressed, overwhelmed and unhappy with our performance resulting in the “F” word coming out…failure.

It is a lot different being a business owner than being an employee and without proper use of your time and resources, you can begin to doubt yourself and sometimes allow the pull defeat ease into your brains.

As business owners, it is extremely important that you learn how to deal with the demands on your life and a growing business so you can remain focused, strong and on task each and every day.

Here is how I manage to get everything done (shh, its a secret)

  1. I practice two little words “Oh Well”.I never strive for perfection. Sometimes we put unbelievable expectations on ourselves and are disappointed when we don’t reach perfection.

Perfection doesn’t happen…. learn how to say “Oh well” and be happy with what you accomplished.

  2. Delegate, Automate & Systematize.I am a big believer of using systems in my business and life. It helps me stay focused on the tasks that I deemed important and provides the most value in my business.

Find help! Family members are cheap labor… friends don’t mind pitching in… it is okay to ask for help and then try to automate and systematize everything that you can.

  3. Work in chunks of time.I like to work on projects in bulk and to leverage any creativity that I can working on similar tasks. For example, I write all of my articles in one sitting and commit to getting them done in 1 hour. I also offer group coaching to leverage my time with potential customers who want value and the collaboration of a group.
  4. Take time for “me”I love the spa, naps and playing with my dogs. I take a lot of time for myself. Call it a vacation, a refresh day, but I make it a point not to work 24/7. I take time to spend with my friends and family because that is what is important to me.

So, make sure to remember why you are in business… chances are it isn’t because you LOVE working all the time… you want the freedom to spend time with your family and friends, so make it a point to do so.
