Common Questions and Answers
Persistence and determination are attributes that successful people have shared throughout human history. Tenacity is the hallmark of a champion. Determined individuals continue to pursue a goal or an outcome even when difficult. Everything doesn’t just fall in your lap in life. To realize your goals and to make life vibrant, meaningful and successful you must wake up with determination and go to bed with satisfaction and in between strive for something great. Steve Jobs once said, “People with passion and determination change the world for the better.” We can accomplish something great with the desire to make a difference as leaders in our respective industries.
Attitude is Everything
Winners never quit and losers never win. Your attitude is what changes everything. Zig Ziglar declared, “It is your attitude, more than your aptitude, that will determine your altitude”. While it takes a lot of hard work to reach our goals it is our mindset that enables us to achieve our goals and break through the descending layers of clouds that sometimes feel overwhelming to us. What we are facing now is not as important as our attitude towards it. Our outlook determines our success or failure. It is our true grit and determination within us that drives us to supersede resistance. It is important to recognize that success is failure turned inside out. Ever wonder how pilots manage to fly when they can’t really see anything but the inside of a cloud? They use something called an attitude indicator alongside other instruments. When pilots raise the nose of an airplane so that the attitude indicator hits the blue part, the airplane goes up and climbs. When the pilot lowers the nose of the plane so that the indicator is in the brown part (the ground) they are descending. So just like our thought process, when we think positive, we are in the ‘blue’ and when we think negative, we are in the ‘brown’ with our nose to the ground. Your attitude determines your altitude because it truly influences every aspect of your life. Reminisce when you had an awesome day. How was your attitude? When, we live with consistent positivity, persistence and determination, our brain can utilize this positive energy to problem solve, create and explore new depths.
Where there is a will there is a way
William Shakespeare said, “It’s not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves”. We as individuals must trust in the process. The true difference between the people who attain their goals is not their genius. But the belief and determination within that they will eventually reach their destination and arrive at the place they want to be. Sometimes, we must suspend the expectations of how long this should take. As we may face rejection along the way. However, we need to take this rejection and drive our inner self to strive, achieve and find a way around the obstacles. We must dissolve the excuses that try and pull us down and instead empower ourselves with our inner determination and drive that raises our belief system and self-esteem to persist through life’s daily challenges.
There is No Short Cut to Success
The Oxford Dictionary defines determination as “firmness of purpose and those that succeed because of sheer grit and determination”. Determination means persistence, striving to achieve a goal or being successful. Making the inaccessible peaks accessible, never giving up in the face of adversity. Constant effort and perseverance makes a dream a reality. There is no short cut to success. It is the determined individuals who enjoy their destiny and realize their goals and dreams along the way. Faith and determination is what keeps you going. Your dream does not have an expiry date. If you fall today, you can stand tall tomorrow. It is the will within you that enables the strong and successful you to reach the level of achievement that you set for yourself. Nelson Mandela said, “It always seems impossible, until it is done.” Don’t let your inability to do something undermine you from achieving. It’s all about resolute determination and the will to go the distance and get to the other side, no matter what.
Everything is Possible
The difference between possible and impossible lies in a person’s determination and persistence to reach their respective goals. Perseverance means never giving up, and never stopping at any time even in a situation of supreme difficulty. It is easy to allow the obstacles to come between what we want to achieve. It is important to dig deep in these situations and not let the thoughts of failure supersede your perseverance. No one should ever give up on something they truly want to do because everyone can achieve something if they are willing to put in the work and have a strong mindset towards overcoming a challenge and overcoming people who disagree with you along the way. Every day presents a new opportunity at success. Winston Churchill said “Success is not final, and failure is not fatal. It is the courage with determination to continue that counts”. Churchill was one of the greatest leaders of all time. He mobilized the powerful effect of his words and it was his compelling, courageous leadership and perseverance to overcome great odds that lead Great Britain through its most difficult times. He once roared at a speech he gave at the boarding school he attended as a boy, “Never give up! Never, Never, Never!” What a tremendous lesson in perseverance we can all learn from Sir Winston Churchill. Even in the darkest of hours he rallied the British people with his bold, powerful and fearless public addresses and his convictional leadership even in the face of steep opposition. Perseverance certainly separates the winners from the losers. Only YOU can control your future. Some people succeed because they are destined. But most people succeed because they are determined to reach the finish-line and break through all barriers of resistance. Perseverance is failing nineteen times and getting up and succeeding the twentieth. There are many people out there that will tell you, you can’t. But you must stand tall and say to the pessimists “watch me”. I am too optimistic, positive and determined to be defeated. I will not fall but utilize my talents, skills, inner drive and beliefs to reach my goals and succeed no matter what. With ordinary talent and extraordinary perseverance all things are attainable.
Your Life is Your Creation
Great things happen to those who don’t stop believing. Keep pursuing their goals. And, are grateful for what they have. It is the constant and determined effort that breaks down resistance and sweeps away the obstacles. Everything you want in life is on the other side of fear. Courage is not the absence of fear but the ability to be triumphant over it. A lot of us never live up to our true potential as we don’t challenge ourselves for fear of failure. We simply lose our determination. Great works are successfully achieved not by shear strength, but by perseverance and determination. The will to persevere to the finish line is often the difference between success and failure. Failure will never overtake you if you refuse to quit and your determination to succeed is omnipotent. Be hell bent in reaching your goals no matter what. Your life is your creation. Know you have most of the ingredients that you need to shape your life and make your creation incredible. You can always add and subtract ingredients along the way. That’s the recipe for success. As life is not perfect and not everything goes as planned.
You won’t achieve every goal, but it’s more important to know how to react to things when they go off track and regroup for tomorrow, next month and next year. Never be crippled by failures. They are experiences that propel us forward.
Life is unpredictable and that’s okay. As our creative juices and determination opens our minds for change, maturation and progress and that’s what makes life more interesting and keeps us on our toes. Even when you think life stinks, YOU can make it better by digger deeper, getting more determined, persisting and knowing that life is about the journey and the process. Creating new opportunities, unfolding the life YOU want with firm resolve, a determined soul, inner happiness — and success WILL follow.
